Frequently asked questions

FAQ

If we have been legally married in another country can you perform a ceremony for us in Scotland?

Yes, no matter where in the world you were legally married, you can have a non-legal symbolic ceremony in Scotland led by me as long as your marriage is legally valid in the country where it took place and it was in line with the laws of that country. I would ask for legal proof of your marriage in the form of your marriage certificate.

Who do Independant celebrants in Scotland conduct ceremonies for?

Independent celebrants in Scotland conduct ceremonies for couples who legally married elsewhere but want a Scottish ceremony and particularly want to be married in beautiful locations. Couples who are renewing their vows. Couples who had a registry office wedding but now want something more personal and bespoke.

Do you have a restricted area that you cover?

No is the short answer. I am willing to travel anywhere in Scotland to make your ceremony truly yours. However, there will be an expenses charge of 50p per mile if I have to travel more than 30 miles to the venue/location and other reasonable expenses if I have to stay overnight away from my Perthshire base.

Will you help guide us on the legal requirements of getting married?

Yes, I will guide you through the legal process of getting married, providing you with the information you require to make the process as easy as possible.
